Otley Town AFC Chairman Kai Arter & Secretary Ben Featherstone present Kirsty Christmas from Sue Ryder Wheatfield's Hospice with a cheque of £552.50 after the Stewart Adams Memorial Match.
Otley Town AFC would like to thank everybody who donated prizes, cash or their time for the annual Stewart Adams Memorial Game in aid of Sue Ryder Wheatfield's Hospice at The Old Showground on Saturday night 6th July.
Thanks to everybody's generosity, we managed to raise a huge £552.50 for the superb charity as well as raising awareness of the superb work the team do at Wheatfield's Hospice.
The match was organised by Stewart's son, Kieran Adams, who arranged for 22 players, friends of Kieran and his brother, Declan, to compete against each other before spending the evening in the clubhouse fundraising. #TeamDeccy won 3-2 after Golden Goal in what was a very competitive game throughout.
We were all overwhelmed by the support of a huge number of businesses and local people in Otley who were so generous in their offerings of prizes for the raffle. Stewart's wife, Anne, prepared a cooked a feast on the BBQ to ensure everyone was well fed.
Commenting on the Stewart Adams Memorial Game, Club Chairman, Kai Arter said "Stewart put many hours into the club to help a huge number of young people play football at Otley Town, so it is the least we could do as a club - I'm happy to see such a fantastic sum was raised."
Stewart's son, Kieran, said "It was such a good day, I can't believe how much we raised. Thank you to everyone."
Kirsty Christmas from Sue Ryder Wheatfield's Hospice said on receiving the cheque, "it's great to see such a huge total raised from the football game and it's even more pleasing to see the profile of our charity increase in the local area."
We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2020 for the next instalment of the Stewart Adams Memorial.
